education network, and Michigan's largest ISP. Susan was Senior
Science Writer at Merit from 1991 to 1998. As Senior Science Writer, she submitted successful
proposals for research project funding, documented a wide variety of computer platforms and a broad spectrum of
software, wrote summaries of scientific and technical concepts, and developed informative case studies of
technical applications. Previously, Susan edited U-M Computing News on behalf of the University
of Michigan Information Technology Division (circulation 10,000) for eight years.

Operators' Group
NANOG is the foremost international forum for information exchange among backbone network operators. From 1999 to
2006, Susan was Coordinator, chaired the Program
Committee, moderated meetings, oversaw the 10,000-member email list, maintained the web site, and represented
NANOG to other international networking organizations. Susan also helped sustain NANOG's educational focus on
inter-ISP cooperation, routing, operations/management, performance metrics, traffic engineering, and regional
routing registries and databases. NANOG conferences are convened by Merit
Network, and attract 400-500 attendees to three annual meetings.

Internet Engineering Task Force
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is a large, open, international community of network designers,
operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of Internet architecture and the smooth operation
of the Internet. Susan has been active in IETF since 1993 as a participant in several Working Groups,
the author of several RFCs, and an independent consultant.
